Kim Allard, Owner
Every project is important to us. That’s why we pay so much attention to every detail.
Darren is first and foremost a family man, a huge movie and classic rock fan, as well as a successful business owner in Winnipeg. Originally from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, he grew up in Saskatoon and that gives him his Roughrider fan distinction (sorry Bomber fans). He met his Winnipeg girl in Saskatoon and a few years later they started a family and moved to Winnipeg looking for new and exciting opportunities.
He got his start in the office supply industry back in 1984 in Saskatoon when his Mom introduced him to the industry with a job working for Grand & Toy in the warehouse helping to pick orders of office supplies and furniture items. In 1988 he went on to a new company expanding into Saskatoon called Supreme Office Products. There he did office supply and furniture deliveries, inside sales, outside sales and furniture installations. He worked there until moving to Winnipeg in 1993.
Arriving in Winnipeg he knew he would like to stay in this industry and he immediately landed himself a job with Business Furnishings, a Steelcase furniture dealer. He furthered his career there installing office furniture, learning to drive 5 ton trucks, reading floor plans and warehouse duties as needed. Over time he moved into the Project Coordinator side of things, estimating jobs, doing furniture drawings and setting up schedules for the install team.
He always knew that having a business of his own was the only way he could truly be in charge of his own destiny. Darren left Business Furnishings in 2002 to start Recon Installation serving furniture dealerships and clients with their furniture installation and furniture moving needs.
Here he is now in 2017 and celebrating 32 years of being in this great industry. He is looking ahead to a bright future meeting more new friends and expanding his business with whatever needs arise for the future!
Kimberly Allard is a Taurus-born “April baby” known for her spiritual side (Taurus is also known as the Bull of Heaven) and she grew up in Winnipeg’s north end and spent her teenage years in Saskatoon. Family has always been number one on her priority list; she loves her kids and appreciates spending time with people who love them too, respecting family routines and family customs, and being present for all events and gatherings.
She enjoys hosting house parties for both her family and friends and doesn’t mind cooking a meal or sharing a recipe or two with a room full of people; all she asks in return is that you relax, have fun and enjoy yourself. She finds peaceful moments in gardening and planning her fairy gardens and secretly wanting to be one of “those little fairies” walking through the gardens she has created lol, one of her most rewarding passions is watching her daughters dance for the past 25 years.
You will always catch Kim on her down time cuddling with her puppy King as her love and passion for dogs is over the top (we always say she was a dog in another life).
Kim started working at a young age for her Mom’s family business from 1989 to 2007 dealing with business management, logistics and accounts are all her forte. She owes a lot of everything she knows today due to the unconditional love of her mother.
In 2002 she branched out and would start Recon Installation Service Ltd. with her best friend and life partner Darren Hembroff. She started out doing what she knew best for the company which was accounting and payroll, also raising three beautiful daughters and sharing her strong work ethic with them (hard work doesn’t hurt anyone) … at a young age, they too have joined in with company tasks when needed.
She still ran the accounting end of things with her family business for 5 more years but she was looking for a change and at that time she wanted to become more involved with Recon’s “on the road projects” visiting job sites to learn more about the install part of their business she saw there was opportunity for some TLC from a woman’s perspective.
When focused on a specific project, you will always find Kim seeing it through to completion, no matter what’s happening in the world around her. Stability is the key to her working routine along with organization, reliability, patience, practicality, devotion, responsibility and team building. Kim is not afraid of hard work and finds it very rewarding.
